I've been travelling with Emma (pictured with Franklyn, our guide for the day) looking at vegetable production in California (very big business!) and we just happened to come across this straw bale classroom www.albafarmers.org in the Salinas valley. They teach people new to organic vegetable growing in the classroom before the students are given an acre of land on which to start growing their own. If they do well, the following year they get a bigger plot. Seems like a good way to get started.
Hi Carol
Pleased to see you have arrived safely over The Pond. Wow this looks a great idea and it seems really generous to us giving folk an acre to produce on but of course their country is so big.
Expect you're having a great time, hope the Blackberry is performing!
Take care, Sally x
